Position Summary

Responsible for identifying and implementing initiatives that improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the HNHB LHIN health care system.

Core Duties - Responsibilities

  • Works with health services providers to identify key objectives, measures and implementation strategies designed to meet performance expectations and deliver system-wide change
  • Manages health service provider performance and accountability agreements according to established government/ministry directives and LHIN goals and objectives.
  • Participates in negotiation of performance agreements with health service providers and contributes to the development of related policies, procedures or strategies for performance management.
  • Contributes expert advice and input on performance standards and service provider performance and accountability
  • Contributes to inter-LHIN and ministry dialogue on performance standards and agreements and their application to local health service providers.
  • Analyzes the local services, researches best practices, and develops recommendations for system improvement and enhancement
  • Is able to participate in and contribute to risk assessments of health service providers as part of a team approach to ongoing reviews.
  • Promotes patient safety in alignment with the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Directions of the LHIN
  • Works within the basic principles of patient safety by doing the right thing for the right patient, using the right method at the right time
  • Adheres to the LHIN’s patient safety policies and procedures



  • Post-secondary/Master’s degree in health administration, business administration, public policy or relevant field.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse stakeholder groups and achieving consensus
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully planning, executing and managing complex projects
  • Experience in risk management and demonstrated capacity to identify and respond quickly to emerging issues and priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement methodologies such as LEAN/Six Sigma
  • Experiencing using FIM, CIHI and other relevant health system data sources
  • Success in working in small, knowledge based teams
  • In-depth understanding of the Ontario health care system, its stakeholders, programs and issues.
  • Demonstrated experience with operational or strategic decision-making related to program effectiveness.


  • Driver's licence and access to/use of personal vehicle for travel throughout HNHB LHIN area
